Nordfyn’s Rose Festival in Denmark is always held on the first weekend in August, which this year falls on 5 and 6 August 2023. The Rose Festival is supported by Nordfyn Municipality and Nordfyn Business and Tourism. The aim of the rose festival is to organize a festival that puts Bogense on the map, for the benefit and pleasure of the trade in the town and for the gardeners who produce and sell the roses. The theme for this year’s Rose Festival is “Danish films”, and Denmark’s coziest market town Bogense will be decorated with more than 100,000 roses.


Jim Lyngvild, acclaimed designer, artist, photographer, author and Funen resident, is behind the exhibition “Fairytale Roses” which can be experienced in the halls of Bogense Town Hall, Jim Lyngvild will host a reception for his new book on roses on Friday 4 August at Bogense Town Hall.
Actress Ghita Nørby visits Bogense and opens the Rose Festival on Saturday 5 August at 10 am. One of Denmark’s best-known and best-loved actresses, actress at the Royal Danish Theatre Ghita Nørby, will once again visit the Rose Festival in Bogense. Ghita Nørby has an impressive career, appeared in countless films and TV series and has had many great roles: The Baroness of the Petrol Tank, Dancing with Regitze, Babette’s Visitor, the TV series Matador and many more. Ghita Nørby is known as a passionate gardener. She is a great rose connoisseur – she has named several roses, including the scented roses “Fru Nørby” and the popular climbing rose “Our last summer”, both bred by Rosa Eskelund. Ghita will attend the book launch.


Ghita Nørby and Jim Lyngvild will name a rose in Bogense. Ghita and Jim have developed the rose together with rose breeder Rosa Eskelund. “It is a great honor for the Rose Festival that Ghita Nørby and Jim Lyngvild will visit the festival and name their rose here”, says Rose Festival Manager Jette Kærgaard.
The Rose Festival decorates Bogense with roses and organizes garden talks, but the Rose Festival also offers art, garden stalls, food market, music, commerce and fun.
Sunday 6 August at 10 am, theatre director Kasper Wilton will open the festival Folketeatret’s director visits Bogense to open the Rose Festival. Kasper Wilton loves Funen and especially the North Funen region, and Bogense is proud that he has accepted the invitation.
