The next edition of Plantarium 2019, the leading international tree nursery trade fair in the Netherlands, will be held from 21 to 23 August 2019 at the International Trade Centre Boskoop/Hazerswoude. In the context of “Green Fits All”, the entrance hall at Plantarium will display a pilot based on compact living and recreation, combined with experiencing natural surroundings. The new urban renewal and rural development buzzword are ‘small’, as is shown by the rise of ‘Tiny Houses’ and ‘Tiny Forests’, among other things. Developments in this area focus extensively on sustainability and the idea of circularity. Wood is often the first choice when it comes to building material, and the natural appearance is enhanced by green roofs, vertical gardens, and ornamental plants.
The entrance hall is also the starting point for the Ecological route that Plantarium has laid out for visitors, taking them past participants presenting interesting products and services in the area of sustainability and health. Visitors can walk the route independently with the help of a map, or they can join a guided tour at fixed times in various languages. Like last year, Plantarium and GROEN-Direkt will show that two trade fairs under the same roof formed the largest garden plant event of the year. In the coming edition, the next step will be taken by adjoining the GROEN-Direkt Product Promotion Square to Plantarium. In a practical sense, cooperation is experienced through one parking policy, one entrance, and one catering policy, while the identity of both organizations remains visible. Plantarium promotes the trade in horticultural products and offers its participants a podium on which to present their products to a broad international trade public, with innovation being the keyword. New plants are plants which are introduced at Plantarium, having been bred by companies both at home and abroad, and are judged by the Royal Boskoop Horticultural Society. The presentation of new plants has attracted a great deal of interest from national and international trade visitors and trade press for many years. GROEN-Direkt is the number one wholesale trade fair in garden plants with a ‘living catalog’ that can be purchased from directly. Both organizations will use the coming edition of the trade fair to gauge participants and visitors on where even more opportunities lie for intensive cooperation.
