200 exhibitors from all over Europe will participate in the next edition from August 31st to September 2nd, in Faenza, Italy. A new edition for Argillà Italia, the international ceramics market fair joining the network of the partner markets in Aubagne, France and Argentona, Spain. The sixth edition of Argillà Italia stands out in Italy as the reference point for the contemporary international handicraft and artistic ceramics. Argillà Italia, organized by Foundation MIC – International Museum of Ceramics in Faenza, together with the Municipality of Faenza and in collaboration with AiCC – Italian Association of Ceramic Cities, was created in 2008 as a spin-off from the French “mother” event Argilla, that has been held in Aubagne (Marseille) since 1991, similarly proposing a selection of exhibiting ceramists of high quality, coming from all over Europe and the World, a rendezvous of great attraction for the public, but also an important moment for exchange among the operators of the ceramic system and a unique opportunity to network nationally and internationally.
From August 31st to September 2nd, 2018, Argillà Italia returns to Faenza, one of the most renowned centres for majolica in the world, from which the name Faiences originates. The long weeked of Argillà Italia offers visitors the chance of a pleasant walk along the streets of the historic centre of Faenza, discovering the international exhibitors from all over Europe and the exhibitions held in several exhibiting spaces and galleries: the Masini Theatre, the International Museum of Ceramics-MIC, the Town Hall, the Muky Palace, the Municipal Art Gallery, the Carlo Zauli Museum, ISIA Faenza and the former Ceramics Art Institute “Gaetano Ballardini”. Many collateral events will also take place in private and public spaces, welcoming the public with an “Off” circuit of exhibitions and activities. The 200 selected market exhibitors and the “technical” exhibitors come from all over the world: Argentina, Austria, Belgium, China, Czech Rep., Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Honduras, Hungary, India, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Malta, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, The Netherlands, USA. Germany will be the Guest Country of the 2018 edition with a wide cultural programme dedicated, including among others: an focus exhibition on German ceramics at the MIC; the Masini Theatre will host an exhibition of the artworks of the German ceramics exhibitors and a display of the Gioielli Gemelli “Twin Jewels” project, a selection of ceramics jewels realized in 2017 by 4 ceramic artists from Faenza (Cristina D’Alberto, Elvira Keller, Andrea Kotliarsky, Fiorenza Pancino) together with the goldsmiths of the partner city of Schwäbisch Gmünd. The official exhibitions and events of Argillà Italia will be the occasion to observe the most innovative aspects of handicraft ceramics, art and design in Europe and to get to know the tradition of the historical manufacturing ceramic companies.
